Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for Operators to the team within the Lead Smelter - Blast Furnace/Sinter Plant. These are excellent opportunities to commence a career within the mining industry or further your experience and develop your existing technical skills and industry knowledge. The successful applicants will be someone that is hands on and keen to develop and learn some of the skills found within either at the Smelting and Refining - Lead Smelter. These positions are residentially based in Mount Isa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for
-
Maintain plant hygiene and hosing around the plant
Carrying out plant checks and cleaning up spills
Supply tools and equipment to plant areas
Use of crow bars, hammers and jackhammers
Running in fluxes and other materials
Progressing through to other more challenging tasks within a short timeframe
All successful candidates will possess

Self-motivated and flexible with a high standard of work
A pro-active approach to safety and continuous improvement
Sound communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a small team
A current Australian manual driver’s licence
Mobile equipment tickets – would be an advantage
Previous industrial experience would be highly regarded
