About the department

The Influencer and Social Media Team drives the organisation’s online presence by creating engaging content, managing social channels, and developing relationships with influencers to expand reach and strengthen brand visibility. The team monitors trends, responds to audience activity, and analyses performance data to optimise campaigns and ensure consistent, high quality digital communication that supports organisational objectives.

About the role

The Social Media and Content Lead owns the day-to-day performance and presence of Amcal and Discount Drug Stores across all social platforms, ensuring each channel is strategically distinct, consistently active, and optimised for reach, engagement and conversion. The role develops high-impact, platform-native content that drives engagement, discovery and brand growth, translating brand, supplier and campaign priorities into timely, relevant content and publishing across Instagram, Facebook and emerging channels including Tik Tok. Leading end-to-end organic content production, the role also expands UGC and in-house capabilities while managing community engagement and real-time optimisation to protect channel health, build audience trust and support long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute platform-specific organic social strategies across Instagram and Facebook, delivering engaging promotional, educational and audience-led content.
  • Manage day-to-day content planning, publishing and always-on communications including campaigns, catalogues, launches, health services and tactical promotions.
  • Drive high-performing social content through platform-native creative, UGC-style assets and in-house production capabilities.
  • Oversee social support for paid campaigns, PR moments, partnerships and key events, identifying live and reactive content opportunities.
  • Monitor competitor activity, audience behaviour and platform performance, providing insights and recommendations to optimise results.
  • Lead, coach and develop the social team, setting clear goals, managing performance, recruitment, compliance and fostering a high-performing culture aligned to company values.

About you

  • Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a knack for storytelling.
  • Creative flair and attention to detail with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of social media’s impact on ecommerce platforms, digital marketing channels, and analytics tools, with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to optimise performance.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative mindset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management, organisation, and prioritisation, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cap cut editing proficiency
  • Content conceptualising, filming, editing and script development
  • Experience with SharePoint, Canva, Premiere Pro
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Financial acumen
