Come grow with us.

Our clients trust us to bring together the best people, ideas, technical expertise and digital solutions to our work in transportation, buildings, water, the environment and new energy. Partner with our business leaders locally and throughout Australia and New Zealand and operate in a core team across the region, working with a variety of stakeholders and contribute towards key deliverables. No matter where you are in your career, there's a path for you here at AECOM.

Everyone belongs at AECOM

We’re committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging - because great ideas come from diverse perspectives. AECOM is proud to be a Fortune 500 Most Admired Company, a WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality, # Work180 Equitable Workplace Awards 2025 Winner and an AWEI Bronze Tier LGBTQ+ Inclusive Employer.

This is an opportunity to grow your SHE career inside one of the world's leading infrastructure consultancies. As a SHE Advisor within AECOM's ANZ team, you will join us on a 12-month fixed-term basis, working alongside experienced practitioners on a diverse range of projects and programmes, building the practical knowledge and confidence to become a trusted safety professional.

How you'll make a difference

  • Serving as the go-to SHE resource for frontline teams and leaders, providing practical, timely advice on safety, health and environment matters that helps people work confidently and safely every day.
  • Playing an active role in the fundamentals that keep a safety management system strong - contributing to audits, inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments and the continuous improvement of SHE processes and tools.
  • Bringing critical risk programmes and SHE initiatives to life by coordinating committee meetings, supporting injury prevention and return-to-work activities, and helping embed safe work practices across the business.
  • Partnering with project teams to provide SHE input across planning, design reviews and field activities, ensuring work is set up safely and that AECOM's standards are reflected at every stage of delivery.
  • Producing clear, well-structured written materials including reports, training content, investigation summaries and bid submissions that communicate important safety information in a way people can actually use.

Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive

The following experience and attributes are highly desirable. If you do not meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We value transferable skills, genuine enthusiasm and the willingness to grow just as highly as technical experience

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in safety, health, environment or a related discipline with around 3-4 years of experience in a comparable role - however we will consider people with less experience. Exposure to an operational or construction setting is a bonus, though what we value most is genuine curiosity and a real commitment to growing in the profession.
  • Confident, clear communication across all levels - someone who writes with purpose, listens to understand, asks thoughtful questions and knows how to make complex requirements feel simple and actionable for the people who need to apply them.
  • Solid organisational ability and a strong sense of personal accountability, with the capability to juggle a varied workload, deliver on commitments and exercise good judgement about when to escalate or seek guidance.
  • A genuine ability to connect with people and build trust over time, working comfortably alongside colleagues, clients and contractors and earning respect through reliability and a sincere interest in shared outcomes.
  • An appetite for growth and a healthy openness to feedback, with the kind of initiative and care for quality that comes from wanting to do the work well - not just wanting it finished.
  • Ability to work flexibly in the office, at home or in the field.
