About the Role
The Commis Chef position is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to begin or develop their career in the culinary industry. Reporting to the Head Chef or Sous Chef, the Commis Chef will assist in all kitchen operations, preparing ingredients and supporting the kitchen team to deliver high-quality dishes that meet our standards and guest expectations.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of food items according to menu specifications and quality standards.
- Support the kitchen team by performing basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations throughout the service period.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Receive, store, and rotate food stock as directed, ensuring proper handling and inventory management.
- Assist in setting up and closing down kitchen operations during shifts.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques.
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or food service role is advantageous but not essential.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- A relevant culinary qualification or currently studying towards one is beneficial.
