About the Role
Following an internal secondment, Babcock is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our People Centre team on a 12 month Fixed-Term contract. Based in our Franklin Street CBD office and reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role is a great opportunity to step into a fast‑paced environment where accuracy, integrity and continuous improvement are at the heart of what we do.
You’ll be responsible for delivering end‑to‑end payroll services across multiple Babcock Australasia entities, working with a variety of systems, processes and compliance requirements. This role handles complex payroll activities — from reconciliations and calculations to award and agreement interpretation — ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time.
You’ll also play a key role in maintaining data integrity, supporting system enhancements, and contributing to the standardisation of payroll processes across the region. Collaboration is central to the role, as you’ll work closely with HR, Finance, system specialists and leaders across the business to deliver a seamless payroll experience.

To be successful, You will bring
- Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
- Strong knowledge with HR systems and payroll software, including SuccessFactors, HR3, ADP, Preceda and/or Dayforce.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
- Solid understanding of payroll operations, HR processes, employment law and compliance requirements relevant to payroll operations.
- Proven ability to interpret Awards, Enterprise Agreements and employment contracts to ensure accurate and compliant payroll outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, identify inefficiencies, and drive process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data integrity and accuracy.
- Work collaboratively with the team and stakeholders across the business to build strong, effective relationships and deliver positive outcomes.
