The role is fast-paced, hands-on, but also requires the ability to step back and set strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring that the front-line team is engaged, motivated, and excited to deliver.
The Airfield Operations Manager is responsible for managing the airfield operations safety team ensuring that regulatory activities are completed to satisfy CASA regulations and maintain a safe environment for aircraft operations and personnel working on the airfield. Reporting to the Head of Airfield, the Airfield Operations Manager manages a combination of office staff and frontline shift staff who actively manage the day-to-day management of the airfield and also facilitate other critical functions.

Key responsibilities
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that the Airfield Operations team is complaint with the requirements under the Airport Manual and also relevant CASA regulations.
- Creating an engaged environment for Airfield Safety Offers to excel in.
- Responsible for managing performance and getting the best out of the team.
- Responsible for ensuring that staff are appropriately aware of OHS safety risks and have completed the necessary training, are current on the appropriate SWMS\SOPS and are using appropriate PPE to perform duties.
- Management of the Airside safety officer staff driving performance and efficiency in undertaking required activities.
- Responsible for management of the frontline airside safety team including rostering requirements and leave management.
- Responsible for management of the Airside Safety budget and supporting the Head of Airfield in the management of departmental budget including the consultancy requirements.
The successful candidate will have:
- At least 5 years’ management experience within an aviation operations environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Aviation or Business Management desirable.
- Ability to hold a Level 4E Airside Drivers Licence.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of CASA Regulations.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Experience in formulation and implementation of initiatives that deliver good safety outcomes.
- Ability to lead in high pressure situations, play a key role in crisis events and brief important information accurately.
- Strong experience in risk management, risk assessment, and change management.
