Role/Title: Solution Designer- 8- 12 Years

Mode of Hiring: Permanent

Location: Melbourne

The Solution Designer is responsible for defining solutions aligned with Data Office architecture principles to support business growth and operational needs. This role ensures high quality solution design and guides delivery teams in implementing cloud based solutions within the Data Office ecosystem while adhering to established architecture and design standards.

The role operates within an Agile delivery model and follows Data Office delivery frameworks. It also contributes to operational support for platform solutions and collaborates closely with Architects, Data Engineers, Data Governance, Business Stakeholders, Operations teams, and Vendor partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define end to end solution designs, translating logical architecture into scalable data and process solutions across cloud ecosystems.
• Ensure alignment with Data Office architecture principles and technology roadmaps.
• Maintain proper data documentation and classification (Confidential / Non confidential) for effective usability and governance.
• Ensure compliance with data standards, including privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Support data asset definition, cataloging, standardization, and quality management.
• Work across multiple projects, providing technical direction on architecture and solution design.
• Communicate high level solutions to stakeholders and align them with business requirements.
• Lead impact analysis and provide direction for change requests.
• Identify dependencies across initiatives and mitigate risks impacting solution delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Education

Degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).

Work Experience:

• 8+ years of industry experience with strong solution design/architecture exposure
• 2+ years in Data Engineering / Solution Design, preferably with Databricks
• 4+ years in data solution design including ingestion (batch/real time), transformation, and analytics platform development

Good to have

• Telco domain experience
• Experience in legacy system migration to cloud/on prem platforms

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Cloud platforms: Azure, Databricks, or equivalent
• Big Data: Hive, Spark (Scala/Python), Impala, Sqoop
• Streaming: Kafka, Spark Streaming
• Programming: Python, PySpark
• Scheduling: Airflow, Control M
• DevOps/Tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence
• Supporting: Unix, Shell scripting
• Experience with BI tools, visualization, and analytical model development

NON TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and ceremonies
• Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking
• Ability to translate technical concepts into business language
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in requirements gathering and support
• Familiarity with BI applications and SDLC lifecycle
