Role:Accesibility Tester

Role summary

The Accessibility Specialist / Tester is responsible for ensuring all design system components meet standards and are fully validated before release.

This role owns accessibility standards, manual accessibility testing, defect management and documentation for design system consumers across the full component lifecycle. Responsibilities span defining accessibility acceptance criteria and reviewing design and code contributions, conducting accessibility testing, supporting remediation, and publishing clear accessibility guidance for end users.

Requirement gathering

Analyse and add accessibility defects from current state

Update and maintain the Design System accessibility defect backlog.

Audit industry best practices for accessibility across design systems.

Discovery & Design review

Align with designers and developers to align on component scope, behavior and accessibility expectations.

Author structured test plans or acceptance criteria per component permutation, covering assistive technology combinations and environments (web, iOS, Android).

Own accessibility reviews for all component contributions across design and development phases.

Ensure design proposals align with requirements prior to implementation.

Advocate for inclusive design by applying accessibility expertise to influence content structure, interaction patterns, and UI/UX design decisions
