Finance Manager

Empowered Recruitment

Own the finance function of an established, community-focused organisation and help support its next stage of growth.

This is an end-to-end Finance Manager role for someone who wants more than month-end reporting. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll run the full finance function with genuine autonomy, prepare the Treasurer's report for the Board, and act as the organisation's trusted finance lead across planning, growth and future ventures.

You'll have real ownership, direct access to decision-makers and the ability to operate independently.

The organisation

We have partnered with a local NFP that has supported people with disability and their families across the Townsville community for nearly 40 years.

The organisation has strong governance, a stable operating base and a values-led culture. It employs 70+ staff and is well positioned for its next chapter - reinvesting in systems, people and the quality of support it provides.

In a sector where margins are tight, strong finance is not just a back-office function - it directly protects and extends the services delivered to participants. Your work will have a visible connection to the people receiving support.

The role

  • You'll own finance end to end, from day-to-day operations through to forecasting, modelling and strategic input.
  • Running day-to-day finance across payroll, AP and AR
  • Building OPEX and CAPEX budgets, and delivering monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting
  • Preparing the monthly Board pack and the Treasurer's report
  • Forecasting and modelling to support pricing, growth and investment decisions
  • Maintaining compliance and statutory reporting, including BAS, PAYG, FBT, audit preparation and liaison with auditors
  • Keeping finance systems fit for purpose and identifying improvements where they make commercial sense
  • Partnering with the CEO on business planning, acquisitions and future ventures

What success looks like

  • 3 months - you understand the business, its funding model, reporting rhythm, payroll cycle and how finance supports day-to-day service delivery
  • 6 months - you're operating autonomously, producing clear reporting, managing key deadlines, and providing trusted insight to the CEO, Treasurer and Board
  • 12 months - you're improving systems, strengthening controls, identifying efficiencies, and contributing to cost-saving, growth and investment strategies

About you

You're technically strong, commercially minded, and energised by improving things rather than just maintaining them.

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting
  • CPA or CA is desirable, however not essential
  • Strong experience across reporting, budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day finance operations
  • Confidence with payroll, AP/AR, audit preparation and statutory reporting
  • A practical, self-directed approach to systems and process improvement
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or the ability to obtain one
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence

What's on offer

  • Salary up to $130k + superannuation
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 per FBT year, plus $2,650 for tax-free dining and accommodation
  • Full-time or part-time opportunity, noting certain key days, such as payroll and reporting deadlines, cannot be missed
  • Professional development encouraged and supported
  • A direct, trusted relationship with the CEO and exposure to the Board
  • Ownership of an end-to-end finance function in an established, purpose-driven organisation

If you want a finance role with real ownership, Board-level visibility and the chance to shape an organisation's future, we'd love to hear from you.
