Technology plays a critical role in the organisation's growth strategy, creating an opportunity for an experienced Network Security Engineer to influence security outcomes across both existing and newly developed applications
About the opportunity
Reporting into the Platform Manager, you'll take ownership of the organisation's Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and Web Application Firewall (WAF) environment, ensuring security remains embedded throughout the application development lifecycle. Working closely with Development, Infrastructure and network teams, you'll help secure both customer-facing applications and internal users while supporting a broader 'defence-in-depth' strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing & optimising Web Application Firewall (WAF) security policies and controls.
- Supporting Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls, internet proxy services and network security technologies.
- Working closely with development teams during application redevelopment and re-platforming initiatives.
- Identifying vulnerabilities, recommending improvements and strengthening overall security posture.
- Monitoring and responding to security incidents, threats and emerging risks.
- Providing security input into projects, architecture discussions and future technology initiatives.
About You
You'll come with strong experience supporting enterprise Web Application Firewalls platforms, ideally F5 ASM. Although, candidates with experience across Imperva, Akamai, Cloudflare or other enterprise WAF technologies will also be highly regarded.
- Experience with Secure Web Gateway technologies and enterprise network security controls.
- Exposure to Palo Alto Firewalls and Azure cloud environments.
- Understanding of modern web application security principles and attack vectors.
- Ability to review, tune and optimise security policies while balancing risk and business requirements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively across Development, Infrastructure and Security teams.
