What you will do
The Education, Prevention and Communities Branch designs and delivers educational resources to prevent online harms, working with key sectors and community members to build user capacity and resilience through training programs, awareness raising and referrals.
The Education Sectors Team is in this branch and is responsible for ensuring eSafety’s support for educators (from early learning through to the tertiary sector) is targeted, effective and keeping pace with emerging technologies and online safety trends.
As Project Officer - Education Sectors, you will support the effective administration of eSafety’s Trusted eSafety Provider Program and the National Online Safety Education Council, and contribute to the development of new materials and guidance in response to emerging online safety issues.
You will be working directly with internal and external stakeholders to raise community awareness of eSafety and the Education Sector team’s work programs.
You will also support the operation of collaborative forums for sharing insights, research and best practice. This includes the planning and delivery of meetings and communities of practice and facilitating regular communication across stakeholder networks.
The successful candidate will:
- support relationships with key stakeholders, including educators, tertiary organisations and the peak bodies that represent them, including the planning and delivery of meetings and communities of practice
- assist in the assessment of applications and program management for the Trusted eSafety Provider program
- assist in the development of new content, including digital assets and web content for education audiences
- assist in the development and management of project schedules, timelines and budgets, providing support to ensure that projects run on time and to budget
- produce written work for a variety of purposes and audiences.
The skills & capabilities you need to perform the role
- Experience in program administration and assurance, with capacity to apply guidelines and make consistent assessments.
- The ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external education-focused stakeholders.
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to plan and complete administrative tasks in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy.
- An understanding of or experience working in online safety education and the Australian education sector.

Additional Information
This opportunity is open to existing APS employees only, and will be offered to a successful candidate for an initial period of 12 months. There is a possibility of extension, and a permanent (at level) Section 26 transfer may be considered for an ongoing APS employee.
Successful applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check (or equivalent) and a Baseline Security Clearance.
Due to the nature of eSafety’s regulatory scope, occupants in this role may be exposed to content or hear stories about other people’s experiences with online harm or be involved in work on potentially distressing and sensitive topics. Staff have access to support through our Employee Assistance Program and other wellbeing initiatives and training.
