The Dojo Ramen Bar has been serving authentic Japanese ramen and izakaya food on High St Northcote since 2013. Our kitchen is fast, our standards are high, and our food is something we're genuinely proud of. We're looking for a skilled chef who knows Japanese cuisine inside out and takes real pride in what they put on the plate.

The Role

You'll be working in a busy, high-volume kitchen alongside our experienced head chef. The menu covers ramen, share plates, sushi, sashimi, tempura and more — so versatility matters. This is a full-time position for someone who shows up, works hard and brings genuine skill to the kitchen every shift.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing and executing dishes across the full menu
  • Ramen, Sushi and Sashimi preparation to a consistent, high standard
  • Tempura and fry section work
  • Maintaining food quality, consistency and presentation every service
  • Working efficiently as part of a tight kitchen team
  • Following food safety and hygiene standards

What We're Looking For

  • Solid experience in Japanese cuisine — this is non-negotiable
  • Strong knife skills and Ramen, sushi/sashimi preparation experience
  • Tempura skills and confidence on the fry section
  • Ability to work fast and stay calm in a busy kitchen
  • Someone reliable, consistent and genuinely passionate about Japanese food
  • Experience in a high-volume kitchen is important

The Details

  • Full time position
  • $80,000 – $85,000 per annum
  • Based at 333 High St, Northcote
