About the Opportunity

As part of the Information Management team, the Cloud & Network Support Engineer plays an important role in supporting and maintaining Council’s Azure cloud, on-premise and networking infrastructure environments. This role is focused on ensuring critical technology platforms remain reliable, secure and well supported, while delivering a high level of technical service to internal stakeholders across the organisation.

Working across a broad range of cloud and infrastructure technologies, you’ll provide administration, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting support, helping to resolve technical issues and maintain the smooth operation of systems and services. You’ll work collaboratively with Cloud & Network Engineers, technical teams and stakeholders to investigate issues, coordinate solutions and provide timely updates throughout the support process.

This role also contributes to the planning and implementation of technical activities and projects, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the Information Management function. You’ll assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation, contribute ideas that improve operational efficiency, and help ensure support processes remain effective and up to date.

Alongside your technical capability, you’ll bring a proactive approach to learning and staying current with emerging technologies, trends and best practices across Azure cloud platforms and networking infrastructure. Most importantly, you’ll provide responsive and customer-focused support that helps people across the organisation get the most out of the technology they rely on every day.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in managing and maintaining complex public cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure, IaaS, PaaS and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience in utilising the latest network scripting technology (such as Cisco iOS the TCL) to manage and automate routine tasks.
  • Experience in supporting complex networks, servers and hybrid computing environments such as but not limited to:
      • Setup and configuration of Office365, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory
      • Windows Server 2019 – 2025
      • Microsoft Azure
      • Microsoft Office 365 management (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint)
      • DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP
      • Azure Site Recovery (ASR) (desired)
  • Experience in utilising the latest server scripting technology (such as PowerShell) to manage and automate routine tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand XML based log information for the purpose of debugging and automation.
  • Ability to apply analytical and technical skills to develop a thorough understanding of a complex infrastructure environment and the work processes associated with operational management.
  • Experience working within a medium-large enterprise utilising the ITIL v2.0 or higher fundamentals and frameworks for IM Systems Management.
  • Commitment to placing the customer at the centre of everything we do demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable and expert advice on matters within area of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships and consult, negotiate and communicate with all levels of management and staff, government agencies, stakeholders and the community, both verbally and in writing.
