OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Transport Data Analyst is responsible for analysing transport, fleet, and logistics performance data to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, network utilisation, and contract performance across the transport network.
This role supports data-driven decision-making by providing actionable insights into transport operations, fleet utilisation, delivery performance, route optimisation, and compliance outcomes. The Transport Data Analyst works closely with operational teams, contract management, and stakeholders to support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure contractual, and customer requirements are met.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Analyse transport, fleet, and operational data to identify trends, risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
Develop and maintain transport performance reporting, dashboards, and KPI monitoring tools
Monitor and report on key operational metrics, including fleet utilisation, vehicle availability, on-time delivery performance, compliance, and productivity
Support transport planning and optimisation initiatives through data analysis and modelling
Identify opportunities to improve transport efficiency, cost performance, and resource utilisation
Provide insights and recommendations to operational and contract management teams
Ensure data integrity and accuracy across transport systems and reporting platforms
Support continuous improvement initiatives through analysis of operational performance and root cause investigations
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DECISIONS/ LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
Produce regular operational performance reports and dashboards using data from transport, fleet, and logistics systems
Conduct analysis of transport operations to identify efficiency improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and service enhancements
Analyse route performance, vehicle utilisation, scheduling effectiveness, and operational productivity
Monitor contractual KPIs and provide evidence-based insights to support governance and reporting requirements
Perform root cause analysis on service failures, delays, utilisation issues, and compliance concerns
Support operational planning through forecasting, trend analysis, and performance modelling
Validate and reconcile transport data from multiple systems and sources
Collaborate with operations, fleet, and IT teams to resolve data-related issues and improve reporting capability
Assist with audits, compliance reporting, and contract performance reviews
Escalate operational risks, data quality issues, or emerging trends that may impact service delivery
PRE-REQUISITES
Knowledge/Experience
3–5 years' experience in data analytics, transport analytics, logistics reporting, or operational performance analysis
Experience with Data Reconciliation and Invoicing
Experience within transport, logistics , supply chain, Defence, or complex operational environments
Experience analysing large datasets to identify operational trends and business improvements
Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL, and other visualisation platforms
Experience working with transport management systems (TMS), fleet management systems, ERP systems, or logistics platforms
Strong understanding of transport operations, fleet management principles, and performance measurement
Must be an Australian Citizen and eligible for (and maintain ) an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance
Technical/Professional Skills required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to transform complex data into meaningful operational insights
Advanced reporting, dashboard development, and data visualisation capability
Strong attention to detail and data validation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to present findings and recommendations to operational and management stakeholders
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
Knowledge of transport performance metrics, fleet utilisation analysis, and operational reporting methodologies
Qualifications – Education and/or professional
Tertiary qualifications in Data Analytics, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline
Experience with Power BI, SQL, data modelling, or business intelligence platforms highly desirable
Experience within Defence, government, or regulated transport environments advantageous
Relevant certifications in data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting tools desirable
