We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Community Advisor to join APA’s Sustainability team in Perth CBD office on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting to the Community and Social Performance Manager West, this role supports APA’s West region activities with a strong focus on the Pilbara.
You will be playing an important role in building and maintaining APA’s social licence through high-quality community engagement, supporting project outcomes, and fostering trusted relationships with community stakeholders across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery and implementation of Community & Social Performance (CSP) activities across the West region, with a strong focus on Pilbara-based operations and projects.
- Coordinate and deliver regional CSP initiatives, including community partnerships, investment programs and local engagement activities that create shared value.
- Develop and maintain strong, respectful relationships with community stakeholders, including local councils, landholders and First Nations communities, supporting engagement outcomes and project delivery.
- Provide practical advice and input on stakeholder engagement and community considerations, including contributing to CSP inputs for project tender processes (EOIs and RFPs).
- Support project teams to apply consistent, effective and culturally appropriate stakeholder engagement practices across projects.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to apply CSP principles to operational and project activities in line with APA frameworks and regional priorities.
Your Background
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or community and social performance, ideally within a complex operational or asset-based environment.
- Sound understanding of stakeholder engagement practices and social risk considerations, with the ability to apply these in a practical, delivery-focused way.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective and respectful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including experience engaging with First Nations communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a broader team, managing competing priorities and delivering outcomes.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with a focus on practical implementation and continuous improvement.
- Experience in the energy, infrastructure or resources sector, particularly in regional or remote environments such as the Pilbara, is highly regarded.
