The opportunity
Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement (CSI-IPT CCA). The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.
The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.
The role
As part of our Engineering and Sustainment Services group, the Integration, Test and Trials Discipline Manager will play a critical role in creating the collaborative, innovative and supportive culture of the CSI-IPT Engineering & Logistics team that underpins successful delivery of capability to the Navy.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Design/Functional integration of equipment into the platform (CAT 4/5).
- Support to install field engineering, system staging & grooming, CS alignment.
- Test planning and operations, STW, live asset coordination, test equipment, consumable identification and management and regression testing.
- Contribute, improve and maintain the engineering framework.
- Manage delivery of enterprise level scope (where appropriate).
- Contribute to reporting, internal and external reviews.
- Encourage cross program collaboration and acting as conduit as needed.
- Liaise with home managers on skills assessments, training and opportunities.
- Contribute to the CSI-IPT CSI training program.
- Drive improvement to achieve commonality.
- Manage interfaces with key stakeholders.
- Liaise with the CSI-IPT Project Team on current and future tasking.
- Develop estimates for bids and tasking statements and provide support Bid Team Reviews.
- Provide coaching and mentoring and support graduate intake program rotations.
- Support the chief engineer on SQEP assessments and identify required L&D.
- Establish and contribute to the ELC KPIs (linked to CCA indicators).
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About You
Your skills and experience will include:
- Advanced tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline (systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field etc.), and/or relevant experience within the defence industry.
- Relevant professional certifications in systems engineering or related fields (highly desirable).
- Minimum of 15 years in systems engineering, with extensive experience in complex systems, military systems, and software intensive systems.
- At least 4 phases of the systems lifecycle.
- Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams, with strong PM and strategic planning skills.
- Mastery of advanced engineering software tools, simulation environments, and system modelling techniques (i.e. DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler).
- Systems integration, testing, and validation, systems engineering principles and practices, with a strong focus on military systems.
- System Engineering in an ASDEFCON context, regulatory and compliance standards in the defence sector and network and network security
