Organisational Context
east Victoria across an area of 20,000 square kilometres. The service delivery area is bound by Corryong, Yarrawonga,
Benalla and Dartmouth. We operate 21 water treatment facilities and 22 wastewater treatment plants that service most
towns across the region. Over 200 full time equivalent staff are employed at our centres in Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla,
Yarrawonga, Corryong, Beechworth, Mount Beauty and Myrtleford.
Our operations are overseen by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) on behalf of the
Minister for Water, and the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) on behalf of the Treasurer. We continue to invest in
innovative and long-term capital projects which contribute to the health and well-being of current and future generations.

Position Objectives
- Works as part of the Operations Projects and Maintenance team to optimise the performance of
water and wastewater infrastructure, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services.

Key Responsibility Areas
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, corporation
policy and procedures.

Organisational Relationships
This role reports to the Coordinator Mechanical and Project Maintenance and liaises with all internal stakeholders, peers
in water corporations or local government, government agencies and members of the public.

- Authority to procure goods to the delegated value set from time to time, advice and guidance is available.
- Accountable for managing own workload and the exercise of discretion in carrying out the position responsibilities.

- Use judgment when dealing with the public, contractors, consultants and other organisations.
• Decisions may be taken in regard to assigned work although, where major deviations from approved estimates are
likely to occur, discussions with the Operations Maintenance Coordinator would be required prior to a decision or
action being taken.

Specialist Skills and Knowledge
- Highly developed skills in all forms of communication that enables effective interaction between management,

- Previous experience with preventative and breakdown maintenance of mechanical assets, such pumps valves and
rotating equipment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and approach to fault finding and problem-solving methodologies.
- Extensive experience with pump removals, modifications and installations with the safe use of cranes where
applicable.
- Experience with managing inventory spares and procurement processes that align with business expectations.
- A broad operational understanding of process, pumping and treatment infrastructure and associated hazards
within the water industry.
- Proficient in the use, or understanding of an Asset Management System or CMMS (Computerised Maintenance
Management System).
- Maintenance and upkeep of equipment and tools as well as general housekeeping of vehicles.

- Ability to organise own work within a set program.
- Well-developed time management skills, with the ability to set priorities and plan and organise work to achieve and
set objectives in the most efficient way and within a set timetable, despite conflicting pressures.

Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Trade Qualifications and demonstrated experience in a mechanical field, preferable in the water industry
or similar.
- Extensive experience and commitment to WHS systems and practices.
- Current Driver’s License and Medium Rigid license or willingness to obtain
- Training and competency in high-risk work and first aid desirable.
- Fabrication and welding experience, or ability to operate specialty machinery such as a lathe and milling
machine desirable but not essential.
