Leader Cyber Operations to guide and uplift our cyber security capability across the organisation. In this senior leadership role, you will lead a team of skilled cyber security engineers responsible for monitoring, protecting and enhancing the security of our digital systems, applications and networks.
You will play a key role in strengthening TasNetworks’ cyber resilience by implementing security technologies, improving defensive measures, and ensuring our cyber operations align with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. You’ll also work closely with system owners, project teams and senior leaders to promote a strong cyber‑secure culture and embed security into business processes and technology initiatives.

What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop a high‑performing cyber operations team, ensuring capability, accountability and service reliability.
- Identify and analyse cyber risks, threats and vulnerabilities, and assess their potential impact.
- Oversee the design and implementation of security controls to protect systems, applications and networks.
- Act as the escalation point for complex troubleshooting and incident response.
- Build strong relationships with system owners and stakeholders to strengthen trust in the Cyber Security function.
- Evaluate and implement security technologies that enhance TasNetworks’ defensive posture.
- Integrate cyber requirements into application development and infrastructure projects.
- Monitor critical risks and support continuity arrangements, including participation in incident and executive management teams.
- Promote a positive cyber‑secure culture across the organisation.
About You
You’re an experienced (7 years+) senior cyber security leader with strong technical capability and a proven ability to guide teams through complex operational challenges. You bring deep knowledge of security frameworks, technologies and defensive practices, and you’re confident making strategic recommendations that strengthen organisational resilience.
You enjoy working with senior leaders, technical experts and external partners, and you’re comfortable influencing decisions in a fast‑paced, high‑risk environment. You balance strategic thinking with hands‑on leadership and have the confidence to lead others through ambiguity, incidents and change.
You Will Also Bring
- Experience leading cyber security teams in complex environments
- Strong understanding of security frameworks such as AESCSF, CIS Controls or NIST and experience across regulatory environments
- Knowledge of security protocols, authentication and anti‑malware platforms
- Experience with identity management and application‑level security
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Relevant qualifications and industry certifications such as CISSP or CCSP (preferred)
- Experience working with compliance and privacy regulations such as PCI and SOCI
