About the role

As Program Manager, State Attraction, you’ll play a pivotal role in securing and delivering major events and conferences that elevate South Australia on the national and global stage. Working closely with the Director, State Attraction, you’ll combine strategy, data and collaboration to ensure events align with the state’s economic priorities and deliver real impact.

From evaluating business cases to managing funding and contracts, you’ll take an evidence-based approach to maximise outcomes, driving economic growth, strengthening communities and creating lasting value. You’ll partner across government and with industry to turn opportunities into high-impact experiences .

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and support the delivery of major event attraction programs aligned to state priorities
  • Build strong partnerships across government, industry and key event stakeholders
  • Manage funding programs, contracts and governance requirements
  • Provide high-quality briefings, advice and insights to senior leaders and Ministers
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities
  • Apply strong project controls across risk, budget, timelines and reporting
  • Identify ways to enhance coordination, efficiency and whole-of-government delivery

What you'll bring

  • Strong experience managing programs, projects or funding initiatives
  • The ability to assess and secure high-value event opportunities
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong written communication, including preparing executive and Ministerial briefings
  • Knowledge of events, tourism or related sectors (highly regarded)
  • A solid understanding of government processes and governance
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on delivering meaningful outcomes
