What you'll contribute to

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Evaluation Technician to join our Product Planning & Development division in a permanent full-time role.

Product Planning & Development strives to design, develop, and deliver distinctive global innovations that create ever-better products for customers, empowering all team members to contribute meaningfully and drive continuous growth toward becoming an innovative mobility company.

The Vehicle Evaluation Technician supports vehicle evaluation programs by conducting local suitability testing and carrying out technical assessments and research on off-road vehicles, emerging technologies, components, systems, and competitor products to enhance overall product appeal and customer satisfaction.

This role is primarily based onsite at our Altona North office and involves regular local and interstate travel.

How you'll make an impact

  • Support established vehicle testing processes and procedures in line with company policies to achieve evaluation objectives.
  • Assist in planning and delivering testing activities for passenger and commercial vehicles by understanding key objectives and setting up appropriate equipment to ensure accurate, meaningful results.
  • Conduct safe and consistent product evaluations under guidance, applying relevant standards and Toyota methods to assess vehicle dynamics and performance.
  • Perform product comparisons to identify gaps or concerns and support the development of effective countermeasures.
  • Contribute to project scheduling and planning activities, including safety strategies and plans.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate data and reports to support timely, informed decision-making.

Your attributes - if you've got one or more, we'd love to hear from you!

  • Certificate III qualification in Engineering or Motor Mechanics
  • Solid automotive industry experience, with strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
  • Experience working within large, cross-functional project teams
  • Knowledge of ADAS and objective evaluation tools (e.g. CAN/Vehicle Spy) is advantageous
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record; off-road experience and/or driver training highly regarded
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; additional certifications (e.g. First Aid, truck licence) beneficial
