Commercial Technology Portfolio & Investment Management | Senior Manager
PWC Australia
This is offered as a 12-month Maximum-Term contract opportunity.
Our firmwide investment program is focused on scaling and enhancing our core client service offerings by augmenting our people with AI-powered tools to deliver greater value for clients. The program is establishing the commercial technology (CT) operating model, governance, and investment foundations needed to grow our AI-enabled offering pipeline across Lines of Service (LoS). This role is critical to ensuring CT investments are fiscally disciplined, ROI-accountable, and sustainably owned within the LoS over time.

What you'll do
Commercial Technology Innovation Front Door
- Design and operationalise the end-to-end intake pathway for CT ideas — from origination through triage, assessment, and progression into the pipeline.
- Align the front door with broader firm processes and tooling to ensure a single, coherent intake view across the firm.
- Establish the operating cadence, roles, and supporting tooling, then transition ownership progressively into LoS CT teams.
Benefits Realisation Framework
- Define the methodology, metrics, and business case standards for tracking CT investment benefits.
- Establish stage gates, re-baselining triggers, and post-investment review cadence to drive ongoing ROI accountability.
- Build reporting tooling and dashboards providing benefits visibility to CCTO, SteerCo, and executive sponsors.
FY27 Funding Allocation Model
- Design the allocation model for the CT investment.
- Define phased drawdown and approval mechanics (e.g., tranche-based, milestone-gated) aligned to SteerCo governance.
- Model allocation scenarios and recommend a preferred approach, anchored to the investment appraisal and benefits realisation frameworks.
Cross-cutting
- Produce SteerCo-grade artefacts.
- Provide connectivity into complementary program workstreams (trust, economic model) to ensure alignment without owning their outputs.
What we're looking for
- 8–12+ years in technology strategy, technology investment governance, portfolio management, transformation, or a top-tier consulting environment.
- Demonstrable experience designing technology intake / demand management / innovation governance processes in a complex, federated organisation.
- Strong track record building benefits realisation, business case, or ROI frameworks for technology investments — with practical, embedded outcomes (not just theoretical design).
- Experience designing or operating technology investment / funding allocation models, ideally at $20m+ portfolio scale.
- Comfort operating at the intersection of CIO/CTO stakeholders, Finance, and business sponsors.
- Strong commercial and financial literacy — able to model phased funding, build allocation logic, and challenge business cases.
- Excellent written communication; able to produce SteerCo-quality papers and frameworks.
- Pragmatic, bias-to-action mindset — comfortable in ambiguity, designing v1 frameworks that can iterate.
What you’ll gain
- The opportunity to work with leading organisations and cutting-edge technology that challenge and expand your expertise.
- Flexibility means trusting you to choose when, where, and how you work—balancing what’s best for you, your team, and your clients to grow and thrive together.
- Clear paths for career progression supported by continuous learning and leadership development.
- Generous leave entitlements to support your work-life balance - including floating public holidays, birthday leave and ability to purchase additional leave on top of your four weeks.
- A world-class parental leave policy offering up to 26 weeks of leave for caregivers, supporting your family and personal life.
