This is for a Fixed-Term Full-Time appointment at 76 hours per fortnight, with the possibility of extension(s) covering a period of parental leave.

An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Nurse Manager Workforce to join the regional nursing team in the Midwest.

To be successful, you will have...

  • Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the nursing recruitment and retention programs and nursing workforce requirements.
  • Knowledge of industrial relations and nursing recruitment process requirements in the public sector.
  • High level of communication skills, including written reports, negotiation, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound understanding of current issues in the public sector health system, culture concepts, including rural area service issues.
  • High-level computer skills including data base management.
  • Current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health, and how these impact on employment and service delivery.
  • Eligible for / or in possession of a current C or C-A Class drivers licence or other specialised licence class

Position Profile

Develop innovative recruitment strategies and implement those endorsed through the Regional Executive Committee. Facilitate, and lead development and implementation of new workforce models across the region. E.g. Nurse Practitioner and provide high level support for recruitment, selection and allocation of nursing staff throughout WACHS – Midwest.

Area Profile

The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Midwest health region of Western Australia covers more than 470,000 square kilometres, nearly one fifth of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. The region is located in the northern middle section of Western Australia and incorporates three health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest and Murchison, is recognised for its unique natural environment and is a culturally diverse region with Aboriginal people representing 13% of the overall population.
