Lead Audio Engineer & Studio Coordinator

King Sound Studios is seeking a highly organised and technically capable Lead Audio Engineer & Studio Coordinator to join our team in a full time 30-40 hour per week role.

This position is ideal for someone who in interested in working in a fast-paced creative environment. The successful candidate will play a key role across voiceover and music recording, podcast production, video recording, studio coordination, post-production and day-to-day facility operations.

We are a multi-functional broadcast audio and media production facility based in the heart of Surry Hills, Sydney.

Home to seven purpose-built studios, we work across a wide range of professional audio and content production, including voiceover, podcasts, TV and radio commercials, animation, ADR, audiobooks, music recording and more.

Our work spans both creative and commercial projects, supporting clients, agencies, producers, artists and talent with high-quality recording, production and post-production services in a professional studio environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audio recording, editing and mixing for voice over and music sessions to professional broadcast standards
  • Podcast audio and video production, including lighting and studio set-up
  • Operate and maintain studio equipment, signal flow and patch bay systems
  • Manage and schedule studio sessions and ensure smooth day-to-day operation of facilities
  • Perform audio post-production for Radio, TVC and Online content
  • Prepare, troubleshoot and maintain technical studio infrastructure and software systems
  • Support camera operation, basic photography, Photoshop and visual content tasks
  • Assist with social media posting and content creation
  • Maintain website updates and related digital tasks where required
  • Handle administrative duties including scheduling, invoicing, and Excel-based administration tasks
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients, talent and high profile guests
  • Ensure studios and presentation standards remain professional at all times

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2-3 years industry experience with Audio editing and audio processing
  • Proficiency in Avid Pro Tools
  • Experience with Source-Connect, iZotope RX and related audio software
  • Experience in podcast audio/video production and studio lighting
  • Solid understanding of studio signal path, patch bays and studio tech systems
  • Strong technical aptitude with audio equipment, software and IT troubleshooting
  • Experience in studio set-up, maintenance and management
  • Camera operation, Photoshop and design skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure
  • Reliable, punctual and professionally presented

Desirable

  • Experience working in broadcast, podcasting or commercial audio environments
  • Website management or related digital content experience
  • Social media content creation experience
  • Experience working with video recording and post production workflows
  • Ideally has own cameras

Role Description

This is an on-site contract role based in Sydney, NSW, for a Lead Audio Engineer & Studio Coordinator. The primary responsibilities include overseeing and executing studio recording sessions, managing post-production workflows, maintaining audio and AV systems, and collaborating with clients to ensure top-quality results. Additional responsibilities include supporting voice recording, sound design, and audio editing while coordinating studio operations and projects seamlessly.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Audio Engineering, including recording, mixing, and editing
  • Sound Design expertise with a strong understanding of creative audio production
  • Knowledge of Microphones, Acoustics, and their optimal applications
  • Experience working with Audio Visual (AV) Systems and related technology
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills to manage studio operations efficiently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to work directly with clients and team members
  • Familiarity with audio production for various media formats (e.g., film, radio, online, gaming) is a plus
