Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of large Digital Health & Innovation (DH&I) projects across complex clinical environments and multiple facilities within the District.

About The Role

This role is responsible for the effective and efficient end-to-end management of major digital health initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timeframes, budget, quality and resource parameters. Working within a structured governance environment, the Senior Project Manager will oversee the full project lifecycle, including scope, financial management, risk, procurement, communications and stakeholder engagement.

Reporting to the Team Lead, the role plays a critical part in supporting organisational objectives aligned to NSW Health core values and SLHD’s commitment to excellence in Patient and Family Centred Care.

This role is based at Forest Lodge however you will be required to travel to various locations within the District.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of large Digital Health & Innovation projects across multiple facilities and services within SLHD.
  • Manage the complete project lifecycle, including scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement.
  • Develop comprehensive project delivery plans in consultation with stakeholders, suppliers and vendors.
  • Manage project budgets and monitor expenditure, ensuring financial performance aligns with approved parameters.
  • Control project schedules to ensure deliverables are achieved in accordance with agreed plans.
  • Proactively manage issues, risks, dependencies and changes in scope, ensuring appropriate escalation where required.
  • Coordinate project-specific training and education activities to support implementation and adoption.
  • Maintain effective communication and engagement with clinical departments, District services, vendors and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Independently resolve complex problems within scope and apply sound judgement in a dynamic and complex health environment.
  • Travel across SLHD facilities as required to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Ideal Candidate

  • Tertiary qualifications in health sciences, advanced project management or equivalent experience in a complex health facility.
  • Senior level management experience, with previous experience in managing financial resources in the health care setting.
  • Excellent strategic planning and demonstrated ability to meet objectives within stated project timeframes.
  • Detailed understanding of project methods and tools, particularly as they relate to technical project delivery environments.
  • High-level problem-solving skills and related experience, with capacity to successfully develop, monitor and reach predicted outcomes to strategic and business plans.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to influence and engage a diverse range of stakeholders, individually and in multidisciplinary groups.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, particularly in reporting, public presentation and consultation.
  • Independently resolve complex problems within scope and apply sound judgement in a dynamic and complex health environment.
  • Formal project or programme management certifications (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, ITIL or equivalent) would be an advantage.
  • Experience delivering large-scale Digital Health or ICT initiatives within NSW Health or a comparable public health environment would be an advantage.
