Our client, a highly respected and long-established ENT Surgeon based in Spring Hill, is seeking an experienced
Medical Secretary to join their busy private practice on a permanent part-time basis.
Working 3–4 days per week (8:00am to 5:00pm, with some flexibility around hours), you will work closely alongside the existing Senior Medical Secretary to support the smooth day-to-day operation of patient clinics and the Surgeon’s theatre lists. The practice provides consulting and surgical services across five major Queensland adult and paediatric hospitals, spanning both the public and private sectors.
An undercover, secure car park will be provided for the successful candidate, and the position is available for an immediate start. This opportunity would ideally suit an experienced Medical Receptionist or Medical Secretary with a proven background working within a fast-paced surgical specialist practice and managing a high-volume patient clinic environment.
Key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Meet and greet of patients visiting the practice
- Taking all incoming telephone calls and assisting patient with general enquiries
- Preparing and running patient clinics, including patient appointment bookings, data entry of patient details into Genie, reviewing upcoming clinics and ensuring all patient records are in order before the day of clinic, appointment reminders, attending to patient emails and handling all telephone enquiries
- Processing of all patient billing/receipting for consultations
- Preparing theatre quotes, booking theatre procedures, and assisting another Senior Medical Secretary with the inpatient/surgery billing
- Providing general administration support and proof reading of medical correspondence that the Surgeon has dictated using Dragon Dictation
In addition to the key duties and responsibilities, Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
- A strong desire to provide a high level of service to the patients of the practice
- immaculate personal presentation
- An exemplary telephone manner and a compassionate demeanour
- Have at least 2 years previous experience in a similar position (ideally coming from another surgical specialist practice)
- Must be a team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate you are proactive with strong time management and organisational skills along with the ability to prioritise your workload efficiently.
- Must be able to multi skill and work under pressure
- High level of competency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, prefer previous experience with Genie software (and Eclipse billing desirable)

Remuneration
A competitive hourly rate of $36 – $42 per hour plus superannuation will be offered to a suitably experienced candidate, commensurate with their skills and experience. The successful applicant will also enjoy access to a secure, undercover on-site car park.
