Director, Private Equity Origination

JMES are working with a unique Private Equity Fund with an investment mandate and approach that allows them to invest in and add value to successful, founder-led businesses in the Australian mid-market with significant growth potential. The Fund has a distinct approach to its provision of growth capital, along with an active value creation and long-term investment horizon which has allowed it to stand out from its peers.

With a high-velocity, non-hierarchical, inclusive and diverse culture, they are looking to hire a Director, Origination to be based in Sydney. As Director, Origination you will be responsible for building and sustaining a high-quality pipeline of investment opportunities as well as managing and cultivating relationships across advisor and banking ecosystems. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the Director will also be responsible for the maintenance and development of advanced AI tools and CRM system as well as guiding the broader origination team.

The successful candidate will fit the following criteria:

• 8-12+ years of experience gained in either Corporate Finance, Investment Banking or Private Equity
• A demonstrated track record or exposure to originating transactions in either a corporate advisory or private capital context, ideally in the mid-market segment
• A deep understanding of corporate finance principles and understanding business specific risks and growth opportunities
• A driven, self-starter with a genuine enthusiasm for building relationships
• A humble, team-centred mindset and the willingness to take on any task, no matter how small
