Where you'll be working
The Sutherland Hospital and Community Health Service is located in the Sutherland Shire ('the Shire'), approximately half an hour drive south of Sydney, in the suburb of Caringbah. The Sutherland Hospital was established in 1958 and is a major metropolitan hospital and teaching hospital. The hospital motto, from its inception, is "Endeavour to Serve".
We offer a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services to the residents of the Sutherland Shire. We have 375 beds and each year we care for more than 50,000 patients in our Emergency Department and around 28,000 patients are admitted to our hospital.
The Role
The Nursing and Midwifery – Our Strategy for Transforming Person Centred Cultures 2024-2029 guides our profession in the development of effective person-centred practice and healthful cultures within SESLHD. We advocate for shared decision-making, collaborative relationships, compassionate and person-centred leadership, and supporting innovative practices.
As a Nurse/Midwife Manager you will be responsible for the effective operation of the SESLHD Nursing and Midwifery Research Hub to strengthen a person-centred research culture and support knowledge translation within the Nursing & Midwifery Communities across SESLHD.
As the Nurse/Midwife Manager, Research, you will provide strategic leadership and innovation in nursing and midwifery research and implementation of the Nursing and Midwifery Research Strategy priority actions.
As the Nurse/Midwife Manager Research you will utilise your extensive experience and/or qualifications to:
- Build research capacity and capability of Nurses and Midwives across SESLHD
- Mentor and support nursing & midwifery staff to undertake systematic/rigorous research and candidates enrolled in Higher Degrees by Research, that aligns with the strategic direction and priorities of the LHD
- Support knowledge translation ensuring staff have the appropriate evidence to inform practice and improve patient outcomes
- Collaborate with research leaders internally across SESLHD and those external such as Universities and peak bodies such as NSW Nursing & Midwifery Office
- Promote SESLHD as a Nursing & Midwifery Research Leader through publication of high-quality manuscripts, sourcing research funding through grants, dissemination of research outputs at local, national and international and forming strategic partnerships with key organisations
