Technical Sales Engineer
Rarekind
- Succession pathway to Sales Manager
- Big engines. Big customers. Bigger opportunities.
- Defence, mining, marine and industrial projects across Australia.
A succession plan.
A growth play.
The reputation is already there.
The customers already loyal.
And the opportunities? Endless.
You’ll take the lead on strengthening relationships, uncovering new opportunities, influencing commercial outcomes, and driving the next phase of growth.
You’ll be dealing with customers that are some of the biggest names across mining, defence, marine, rail and energy.
Defence spending is increasing. Mining fleets are ageing. Critical assets still need rebuilding, reconditioning and life extension.
So much untapped opportunity.
Latch onto these opportunities. Grow market share. And a year or two down the track? You will be leading the way, stepping into sales leadership, and building your team.
The Role
No two weeks will look the same. It’s 50/50 hunting and farming.
One day you might be preparing a major overhaul proposal for a potential new mining customer.
The next you'll be on-site with a customer discussing a complex engine rebuild, reviewing project requirements with the workshop team, or travelling interstate to strengthen a key account relationship.
You'll be responsible for:
· Building new relationships across mining, defence, marine, power generation and heavy industry, while managing and growing key customer accounts
· Preparing technical quotations and commercial proposals
· Identifying new opportunities for engine overhauls, component reconditioning, parts and service sales
· Coordinating projects between customers, workshop teams and internal stakeholders
· Influencing pricing strategy and commercial outcomes
· Maintaining pipeline visibility and forecasting
· Supporting and mentoring an internal sales coordination team
· Contributing to the continued growth and evolution of the commercial function
The perfect balance for someone who enjoys both winning new business and growing long-term customer partnerships.
You
You'll have enough technical credibility to comfortably discuss mechanical systems, diesel engines, rotating equipment, component reconditioning, industrial assets or heavy machinery with customers.
You might have recently come off the tools, and you’ve got the hunger to keep building on your sales career.
Or you could be a seasoned technical sales professional with a solid network across mining, defence or heavy industry.
Most importantly, you'll be commercially minded, customer-focused, and ambitious enough to see the opportunity sitting in front of you.
