This is a hybrid role with working days in the office and working from home. It also includes 3 residential elements:

  • Taskforce Training Weekend (3 days)
  • Participant Training Weekend (3 days)
  • Week of Youth Parliament (7 days)

It is a requirement of this job to be available to deliver on the entirety of each of the residential programs.

YMCA Victoria Youth Parliament is a program that gives young people a chance to be heard at the highest levels of the Victorian Government. Through the program, young people aged 16 – 25 can share their views on a wide range of issues relevant to their lives. The program runs in an annual 12-month cycle, with preparation commencing immediately after the completion of the previous program.

The Youth Parliament Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the delivery and evaluation of the annual Youth Parliament and Youth Press Gallery programs including:

  • Recruitment and management of a volunteer Taskforce with the support of the YLDU Manager and Taskforce Executives.
  • Coordinating the implementation of existing program planning through delegation to and management of a volunteer team
  • Strong stakeholder communications
  • Upholding the program’s 40-year history, whilst ensuring that the program remains relevant for young people in 2027

This is a Twelve Months Maximum Term Part Time role, two workdays a week (15.2 hours a week). SCHADS Award ; Level 3.

About You

To be considered for this position you will be passionate and committed you Young People and making an impact,

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Youth Parliament and Youth Press Gallery programs •Demonstrated experience in working with volunteer teams effectively
  • Demonstrated experience in successful stakeholder engagement and relationship building
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Microsoft Office suite of programs (including, Teams, Excel & Word
