About The Role

We are seeking an experienced

Mainframe Developer to support a major Federal Government project. This role will suit a hands-on developer with strong application development experience, solid analytical capability, and a background working with mainframe technologies and batch processing environments.

As a Mainframe Developer, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining business-critical applications, supporting software development activities, and contributing to reliable batch processing outcomes across the project environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and enhance mainframe applications.
  • Support application and software development activities across the project lifecycle.
  • Work with batch processing systems to ensure efficient and reliable outcomes.
  • Analyse technical requirements and contribute to solution design.
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes and implement effective resolutions.
  • Collaborate with project teams, business stakeholders and technical specialists.
  • Contribute to documentation, testing and deployment activities as required.

Skills And Experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong experience in mainframe development.
  • Solid application development and software development skills.
  • Experience with batch processing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience with technologies such as COBOL, DB2, C# or C++.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a project-based environment.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Mandatory Requirements

Due to the nature of this Federal Government project, candidates must be Australian Citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.

Work Location

This role can be based in Melbourne, Canberra or Brisbane, with a hybrid working model of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
