Wolf & Williams
Our client is a renewable energy business at the front of the energy transition for Australia. We are assisting them in their search for a legal consultant with compulsory acquisition experience to join their team as a FTC for a short term period.
The team is an embedded legal function, and this role works closely across land matters and projects and will play a critical role in project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead compulsory acquisition matters end-to-end
- Advise on land access strategy (voluntary vs compulsory pathways)
- Structure and negotiate easements, licences and access agreements
- Partner with project and land teams to keep delivery on track
- Provide clear advice on statutory process, compliance and risk
- Support stakeholder engagement on sensitive land matters
- Advise on compensation frameworks, and disputes, including managing external counsel where required
- Identify and help resolve legal and delivery risks, in line with tight deadlines
- Translate legal complexity into practical, commercial advice
About you
You will have established experience in private practice and in-house at least 10 years PAE in compulsory acquisitions ideally on matters relating to energy transition projects. An understanding of grid connections and exposure to BESS, wind or transmission is highly regarded.
