Australian Unity is proud to partner with Beyond Blue to deliver a 24/7 nationwide counselling and support service for Australians experiencing mental health challenges. Working remotely from home, you will provide phone and webchat support to community members seeking help for emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting people during some of their most vulnerable moments. We are specifically seeking compassionate and resilient individuals who are passionate about mental health and community support, and who are comfortable working overnight shifts as part of a 24/7 service.

Available Permanent Part-Time Opportunities

We currently have Permanent Part-Time contracts available (28.5 hours per week) for overnight shifts. Regular weekend availability is required. These roles are primarily night shift positions, with working hours falling between 8:00pm and 8:00am (AEST/AEDT). This would be your set shift for a minimum of 12 months.

Available Work-from-Home Shift Options

Option 1 – Overnight Shift

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

9.5-hour shifts (28.5 hours per week)

Start times between 8:00pm–10:00pm

Finish times between 6:00am–8:00am

Option 2 – Overnight Shift

Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday

9.5-hour shifts (28.5 hours per week)

Start times between 8:00pm–10:00pm

Finish times between 6:00am–8:00am

Option 3 – Overnight Shift

Saturday, Thursday, Friday

9.5-hour shifts (28.5 hours per week)

Start times between 8:00pm–10:00pm

Finish times between 6:00am–8:00am

About You

You are empathetic, calm, patient, flexible, resilient, and genuinely motivated to support people in your community. As a Mental Health Coach, you will provide frontline support to individuals experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and challenging life circumstances.

  • Strong communication and active listening skills
  • Confidence using technology and managing multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Excellent time management and administration skills
  • Resilience and the ability to support high volumes of calls and webchats discussing complex mental health concerns.
  • Experience working in office-based, corporate, customer service, or contact centre environments.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to ongoing learning and professional development

Highly Regarded Qualifications

  • Diploma of Counselling
  • Diploma of Mental Health
  • Diploma of Psychology
  • Diploma of Youth Work or Youth Justice
  • Endorsed Enrolled Nurse qualification.
  • Paramedical Science

Training & Support

You will be supported through a comprehensive induction and training program designed to build your confidence and capability during your first 12 months as a Coach. The program focuses on developing practical mental health support skills while ensuring ongoing professional support and wellbeing.

Work From Home Requirements

This is a fully remote opportunity, and applicants can be based anywhere in Australia. Technology equipment will be provided; however, you will need:

  • A private, quiet workspace suitable for confidential conversations
  • A reliable and stable internet connection
  • Strong computer and IT skills, including the ability to navigate multiple systems while supporting callers in real time
