Position Type: Permanent Full Time (9 day fortnight, 38 hours/week)

Salary Range: Base Salary $33.05 per hour + super, plus overtime and penalty rates dependent on work performed. Additional entitlements and overtime do not form part of the advertised base salary

Location: Dalrymple Road Depot - Garbutt

Working specifically on our Playgrounds around the City, this role will perform a variety of tasks which includes:

  • Assisting in a wide range of hard landscaping tasks throughout Townsville’s open spaces.
  • Assisting with the installation of a variety of infrastructure in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and Australian Standards.
  • Repair and maintenance of Townsville City Council infrastructure.
  • Performing small scale concreting works, including forming, pouring and finishing processes.
  • Operating of a range of power tools, hand tools, minor and heavy plant.
  • Executing regular manual handling tasks in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Working independently and as part of a team to deliver high quality results within set timelines.
  • Applying strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose issues, propose solutions, and adapt to site-specific challenges.

Qualifications And Experience

Mandatory

  • Current manual "C" class driver’s licence with the ability to obtain an "MR" class licence.
  • Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
  • Working with Children (Blue Card).
  • Ability to use motorised equipment including hand and power tools.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of work procedures associated with the basic maintenance and deployment of construction and maintenance equipment/ plant.
  • Knowledge and experience in a landscaping/construction background.
  • Queensland Government Traffic Controller Accreditation for Traffic Management Implementation (TMI), or the ability to attain.
  • Plant Operators Certificates of Competency for the types and classes of plant utilised in this position (desirable).
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Certificate II in Arboriculture and/or Certificate II in Horticulture, or the ability to attain.
  • Certificate associated with the successful completion of the Safe Working Near Live Exposed Parts training course, or ability to attain.
  • Accredited Chainsaw Ticket (Level 2).
  • Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC).
