Primary objective

Provide high-level strategic, executive and research support to the Executive Director of Health Statistics and Informatics

and section heads within the Health Statistics and Informatics (HSI) team.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high-level executive support for the HSI team including budget planning, procurement, project management,

recruitment, human resource management, information management, and work unit planning.

2. Provide research support services including reviewing HSI outputs for accuracy, presentation, and clarity.

3. Assist with the preparation of reports, including Departmental epidemiological reports, and with the more general

preparation of epidemiological information for presentation to a variety of audiences.

4. Draft and review high-level written communication, including Chief Executive (CE) and Ministerial briefs, letters, and

memos.

5. Undertake secretariat functions for high level committees, and administrative tasks to support the unit, as directed.

6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in the provision of high-level strategic, executive, and administrative support and advice; and

proven ability to exercise sound judgement, discern sensitive issues, and ensure confidentiality is maintained.

2. Demonstrated experience in reviewing research and/or health information and identifying key issues.

3. Demonstrated high-level written, verbal, interpersonal and numerical skills; with experience editing/proof-reading

research reports and ministerial correspondence and effectively communicating information to diverse audiences.

4. Demonstrated experience with providing high-level budget, procurement, recruitment, and business support.

5. Demonstrated experience providing effective and efficient secretariat services.

6. Demonstrated high-level of planning, coordination, and organisational skills to manage competing priorities, and respond

flexibly and proactively to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.

7. High-level experience in ministerial and government processes or capability to rapidly acquire proficiency in these

processes.

8. Working knowledge of or ability to learn NTG operating systems such as TRIPS, MyHR, NTG Pay, PIPS, TRIM and

eRecruit.

9. Proficiency in relevant software programs for the development of comprehensive reports, briefs, and presentations.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as health, social sciences, or public administration; and knowledge of

strategic directions, issues, and policies relevant to NT Health.
