Salary Range: LGO2 ( $67,410 - $73,404 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About The Role

Townsville City Council are seeking a proactive and detail-focused professional to support the efficient operation of store and inventory functions. This role is responsible for accurately receiving, issuing, and storing stock in line with Council procedures, ensuring items are handled appropriately to minimise damage and maintain quality. You will assist with stock enquiries and requisitions, ensuring all required documentation is complete, while maintaining up-to-date and accurate records within the Procurement Business Management System.

Working closely with the Team Leader Inventory, you will help monitor stock levels, participate in regular stocktakes, and identify items requiring reordering or those that are overstocked. A strong commitment to customer service is essential, ensuring all inventory requests are processed promptly and accurately within agreed timeframes, while delivering a positive experience for internal and external stakeholders.

About You

  • Experience in an inventory or stores environment, including receiving, dispatching, and stock handling
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing, and stores operations in a medium to large organisation
  • Proficient in data entry and using Microsoft Office and other business systems
  • Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety, including safe storage and manual handling practices
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to operational goals
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence
  • Current High Risk Forklift Licence

The Council contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings subject to the employee contributing a minimum of 6% of their ordinary time earnings.
