We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Emissions Engineer to join us in our Engineering & Technical Solutions team in Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth on a Permanent Full Time basis.
Reporting to the Head of Emissions & LT Optimisation, you will play a key role in driving operational emissions performance, supporting delivery of strategic decarbonisation initiatives, and embedding sustainable practices across our asset base.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead fuel gas optimisation initiatives to improve compressor efficiency, reduce costs, and meet performance targets.
- Manage and analyse emissions, energy, and operational data in line with the Enhanced Methane Measurement (EMM) program.
- Apply process engineering expertise to identify and develop emissions reduction and abatement opportunities.
- Partner with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to explore practical and innovative sustainability solutions.
- Support emissions reduction programs by driving improved operational practices, reducing methane venting, and ensuring strong governance and reporting.
Your background
- Background in process engineering or a related discipline, ideally within energy, gas, or infrastructure environments.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience in data analysis, modelling, and performance optimisation.
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability and contributing to emissions reduction initiatives.
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence across teams.
- Proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with a willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
About The Team
The Emissions and Long-Term Optimisation (ELTO) team are responsible for the management and delivery of the Operations emissions reduction roadmap, underpinned by the board endorsed APA climate transition plan. The team consists of a small, multi-disciplinary group of highly experienced senior engineers who support the ideation, development and governance of emissions reduction projects as well as coordination and management of APA’s enhanced methane measurement and leak repair programs. Collaborating comprehensively with stakeholders in the Sustainability and corporate affairs team ELTO team are pivotal in delivering upon APA’s purpose of responsible energy.
The team also support the long-term optimisation of gas transmission assets, working closely with the IOC and business unit stakeholders to maximise revenue and minimise operating costs.
This is an exciting time for the team as we progress towards delivering upon our 2030 emissions reduction targets. We need people who are courageous, nimble and impactful to help shape our future to 2030 and beyond.
