About the opportunity

  • Permanent , Full-Time opportunity
  • Hybrid flexibility – 4 days onsite, 1 day from home
  • Based in our North Sydney Office

As a key figure in oOh!media’s business-led transformation, the Category Manager ensures our commercial agreements, supply networks, and asset portfolios are optimised, highly scalable, and aligned with core business objectives. Moving past legacy compliance frameworks, you will act as an agile, strategic partner to our Capital Delivery, Digital Product, and Operations teams.

Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, external partners, and execution teams, you will establish a high-impact, factory-focused purchasing ecosystem. Your focus will be on translating portfolio spend into strategic commercial levers—boosting product standardisation, supplier capability, and bottom-line value without ever slowing our pace of delivery down.

What you’ll be doing

  • Category Strategy: Develop, pitch, and execute multi-year category strategies that anticipate business demand and align with enterprise scaling goals.
  • Agile Sourcing: Lead end-to-end RFP lifecycles, bringing a creative and commercially sharp approach to market engagements, negotiations, and high-value awards.
  • Supplier Organisation: Move beyond transactional vendor management to build and champion a pre-qualified supplier panel, running collaborative quarterly reviews focused on continuous improvement and mutual innovation.
  • Standardisation & Scale: Reduce operational friction and SKU proliferation by championing standard component libraries and approved product lists that sync with our physical assembly pipelines.
  • Cross-Functional Synergy: Coordinate complex, cross-category movements (such as freight lanes, technology integration, and hardware logistics) to optimise total landed costs and lead times.
  • Value & Governance: Protect commercial value through proactive spend reviews, catalogue management, and active benefit tracking against broader business cases.

This is what you’ll look like

  • Experience: Mid-to-senior level procurement background (ideally 5–7+ years) with a strong, proven track record across category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement consultancy.
  • Industry Context: Experience navigating asset-heavy or infrastructure environments is highly valued (e.g., media networks, telecommunications, utilities, rail, construction, or manufacturing).
  • Commercial Fluency: Exceptional negotiation skills backed by practical knowledge of modern procurement tools, such as total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, should-cost modeling, and fact-based bargaining.
  • Stakeholder Influence: A consultative business-partnering style, with the confidence to navigate competing priorities and guide senior stakeholders through complex strategic options.
  • Systems Mindset: Comfortable working with modern ERP workflows and digital data platforms (experience with NetSuite is a definite plus) to drive transparency.
  • Analytical Mindset: Uses data, evidence, and clear commercial insights to challenge conventional approaches and mitigate category risks early.

Education & Accreditations

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Credentials: CIPS or equivalent procurement accreditation is highly desirable but your agile mindset and strategic track record are what matter most.
