Are you a strategic leader who still loves being on the tools?
We are looking for a Head of Marketing to take the reins of our high volume, 100% in house marketing department and drive direct sales and digital acquisition across our network.
This is a true “Player-Coach” role. You will take the strategic and operational lead for the department, leading a high performing team of 8 early career marketers. However, you are also expected to roll up your sleeves and execute alongside them. If you love driving multi-site marketing strategy and team performance but still get a kick out of copywriting a major campaign or architecting a CRM customer journey, this is the role for you.
About the Team & Role
With the exception of paid media buying and physical printing, we do everything in house. Your team of 8 functions like a fast-paced internal creative agency, responsible for all organic social, multimedia, graphic design, CRM and local facility communications.
Because your team consists of eager, early career marketers, a big part of this role is acting as their mentor, upskilling them, quality assuring their work, and building the systems that allows the talent to thrive at scale.
What You Will Do
- Strategic Direction & Digital & Sales Planning (20%): Lead the annual marketing & digital strategy across all brands and 65+ locations. You will translate the business’s overarching goals into actionable, lead generating campaigns, manage the budget, direct performance media efforts (Meta/Google/SEO) to drive direct sales and set clear, measurable KPIs for your team.
- Mentorship, QA & Workflow (40%): Actively coach your team, review creative/copy drafts, clear roadblocks, and manage the high-volume internal workflow via Asana to ensure team KPIs are met and tasks are delivered on time.
- Hands-on Execution (30%): Act as the lead for large national campaigns, architect the customer journey logic within Braze (CRM), and handle major marketing/PR/Media tasks alongside the team.
- Build the Machine (10%): One of your focus areas will be rewriting our Marketing Playbook, documenting workflows, templates, and SOPs to make our 65+ facility network run like clockwork.
- We are 100% In-Office: Our National Site Support Office in Essendon thrives on face-to-face collaboration, especially when mentoring a young creative marketing team.
- Emergency Escalation Our industry isn’t 9-5. Facilities open early and close late. You will be required to act as the senior point of contact to handle critical brand crises, major facility emergencies, or urgent media inquiries as they arise.
- The Weekend Roster: You will participate in a rotating on call weekend roster to address and respond to urgent operational issues from facilities that require immediate customer communications, ensuring seamless support and service delivery.
- High Volume: Supporting 65+ sites & multiple brands means the work is fast paced and relentless. You must be highly organised to prevent bottlenecks.
About You
- 7 to 10+ years of marketing experience, ideally within a multi-site, franchise, or high growth environment.
- Proven experience in a commercially driven role, with a strong track record of using digital marketing to drive direct sales, lead generation and customer acquisition.
- Proven experience in developing annual marketing strategies, managing budgets, and setting/driving team KPIs.
- A proven track record of mentoring and upskilling junior marketing staff. You must have the patience and passion to be a true coach.
- Experience overseeing a high volume, fully in house marketing or creative studio.
- High level proficiency in CRM architecture (experience with Braze is highly desirable).
- Exceptional copywriting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, plus a current CPR, Senior First Aid, Driver's License, and Working with Children Check.
