As the HSE Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting frontline operations across active construction projects while assisting the HSE Manager in the implementation and continual improvement of health, safety, and environmental systems.

This is a site-based role focused on providing visible safety leadership in the field. You will work closely with Supervisors, Leading Hands, subcontractors and construction crews to proactively manage health, safety, environmental, and operational risks.

This position will suit someone who enjoys being present in the field, is highly motivated, confident communicating with both frontline workers and leadership teams, and passionate about influencing positive safety outcomes through practical leadership, coaching and proactive engagement.

Key responsibilities include

  • Provide practical health, safety and environmental advice and support to project teams.
  • Promote compliance with relevant legislation, client requirements and company policies, systems and procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections, critical risk verifications and workplace observations.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of project HSE plans, systems and documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings and project coordination activities as required.
  • Support incident investigations, including identifying root causes, developing corrective actions and monitoring close-out activities.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor environmental controls and drive compliance with project environmental requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of a strong safety culture across the projects.

About You

  • Previous experience in a HSE advisor role within civil construction, infrastructure, utilizes or related industries
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent), and First Aid Certificate.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels. A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach to risk management. Ability to consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Leed values.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive safety behaviours and drive continuous improvement..
  • Experience conducting inspections, investigations and workforce safety engagement activities.
  • Certificate IV in Environmental Management would be highly regarded.

The successful candidate will be subject to the satisfactory completion of pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol screening.
