Are you passionate about turning data into meaningful insights that improve services and outcomes? Join our Business Improvement & Change Management team and help drive smarter decision-making across Council through analytics, business intelligence, and AI/ML solutions.
Working under limited direction, you will provide strong technical advice on data analysis, machine learning and business intelligence to support Council operations, and deliver business improvement initiatives that enable the effective use of corporate data.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Identify and understand information requirements across the organisation, from strategic through to operational levels, including what information is needed, how it is used, who the audience is, and the data sources required to support it.
- Analyse data and use AI tools to identify trends, patterns and opportunities for business improvement.
- Develop and maintain data visualisation and reporting tools to communicate insights and findings.
- Build complete source-to-presentation pipelines for data analysis and presentation.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement data-driven business improvement initiatives.
- Research and maintain knowledge of the latest developments in data analysis and AI tools and techniques.
- Provide highly developed technical advice on acquisition of technologies and tools to improve Council’s use of data.
- Develop and coordinate training for system end users.
- Provide sound advice and recommendations based on data analysis and insights, and help enhance Council’s data analysis, machine learning and business intelligence toolsets.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
- Significant experience in the analysis and reporting of data to drive data-based decision making.
- Experience with data visualisation and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI (particularly Power BI).
- Knowledge of programming languages commonly used in data analysis and machine learning, such as Python or R.
- Strong understanding of AI and ML concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and deep learning.
- Ability to apply AI/ML techniques including data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection and evaluation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, consult stakeholders and present insights clearly.
- (Desirable) A Bachelor qualification in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics or Data Science.
