What You Will Be Doing
As the Production Planner you will work closely with internal teams to ensure efficient production scheduling and high-quality service delivery while maintaining compliance with standardized processes and procedures.
Your Role Will Include
- developing, coordinating, and maintaining detailed production schedules across all work centres
- balancing workloads, machine capacity, and labour availability to optimise production efficiency
- converting sales orders and forecasts into achievable production plans
- monitoring production progress and adjusting schedules based on demand, materials, or capacity changes
- issuing and managing work orders, job packets, and production documentation
- maintaining accurate production data
- generating and analysing reports to support planning and decision-making
- collaborating with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure material availability
- working closely with production, purchasing, stores, sales, and engineering teams to ensure alignment
- communicating schedules, priorities, and changes effectively across departments
- expediting critical jobs and materials to meet deadlines
- identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities within planning functions
- supporting lean manufacturing and process optimisation initiatives
- preparing production reports and tracking KPIs
- ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality procedures
- assisting with stocktakes and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records
What You Will Need
You will need to have strong production planning and scheduling experience to meet performance expectations, manage workflows, and achieve KPIs while contributing to continuous improvement and business growth. You will also support data accuracy, reporting, and cross-functional coordination to ensure operational success.
- 35 years experience in production or manufacturing planning
- Strong ERP system experience JD Edwards highly regarded
- Experience in heavy industrial or mining component manufacturing (advantageous)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with reporting, KPI tracking, and data analysis
- Certificate or diploma in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Production Management (desirable)
