Core Lithium

Underground Geology Professional

Finniss Lithium Operation – Northern Territory | Residential Darwin

FIFO Initially Considered Short-Term | Relocation Support Offered

Core Lithium has reached Final Investment Decision (FID), marking the restart of the Finniss Lithium Operation and the next phase of growth for one of Australia's emerging lithium producers.

With open pit mining recommencing and underground development at the BP33 deposit about to begin, we are seeking an experienced Underground Geology Professional to help establish and lead the underground geology function through development, production, and long-term operational growth.

This is a unique opportunity to join an underground operation at the very beginning. Working within a lean and highly collaborative technical team, you will play a key role in shaping geology systems, standards, and workflows while supporting the successful transition from development into production.

We are open to candidates across a range of seniority levels, including Senior Geologists, Technical Services Geologists, Lead Geologists, and those ready to step into broader technical responsibility. What is most important is strong underground operational geology capability, a proactive approach, and a desire to be part of building something from the ground up.

While our long-term preference is for the successful candidate to relocate to Darwin and become part of the Finniss team, we understand relocation takes time. An initial FIFO arrangement can be considered while suitable accommodation is secured, with relocation assistance provided.

If you are seeking

  • An opportunity to help establish a new underground operation
  • A role with genuine autonomy and influence
  • Broad exposure across underground development and production
  • A long-term career opportunity within the lithium sector

We would welcome your application.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Mining Manager and working closely with the broader technical services team, this role will initially support underground development activities before transitioning into full underground production geology responsibilities as the operation ramps up.

This position will operate within a lean technical team environment, meaning the successful candidate must be comfortable working autonomously on shift and taking ownership of the underground geology function.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Underground grade control and ore delineation
  • Face mapping, face sampling, and geological interpretation
  • Underground reconciliation and ore control processes
  • Geological modelling and grade control model management
  • Supporting underground development and production planning
  • Daily interaction with mining, planning, survey, and contractor teams
  • Maintaining geological standards, reporting, and data integrity
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and development of underground geology systems and workflows

About You

We are open to considering candidates from a range of seniority levels, provided you bring strong underground operational geology capability and the ability to work independently within a production-focused environment.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong underground production geology experience within hard rock mining operations
  • Experience supporting underground development and/or production ramp-up activities
  • Grade control modelling
  • Underground ore control
  • Face sampling and mapping
  • Reconciliation processes
  • Geological interpretation in active underground operations
  • Experience using Deswik and/or other underground geology and modelling software
  • Ability to operate effectively within a lean technical services structure
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • A genuine interest in helping establish and grow an underground mining operation long term

About Core Lithium

At Core Lithium, you won't be joining a large, established operation where processes are already defined and opportunities to influence change can be limited.

Instead, you'll become a key member of a growing technical team responsible for helping shape the future of the BP33 underground mine. This role offers broad exposure across underground geology, mine planning, technical services, and operational interfaces, providing the opportunity to make a meaningful and visible contribution to the success of the operation.

Combined with the lifestyle benefits of Darwin and the Northern Territory, relocation support, and the opportunity to contribute to a critical minerals operation supplying the global energy transition, this is an exciting opportunity for an underground geology professional looking to make their mark.
