We're partnering with AbSec, the peak Aboriginal child and family organisation in NSW, to recruit a Finance Coordinator to join their Corporate Services team on an initial temporary basis with an immediate start. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a full-time role with a strong view to permanency.

Based in Redfern, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a purpose-driven organisation working to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities.

About The Role

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services, you'll be responsible for coordinating a broad range of finance activities to ensure the smooth operation of the organisation's financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Managing accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Processing invoices, payments and purchase orders
  • Completing bank, credit card and account reconciliations
  • Maintaining accurate financial records in Xero
  • Assisting with monthly reporting, budgets and grant acquittals
  • Supporting month-end and year-end processes
  • Assisting with audit preparation and compliance requirements
  • Responding to finance-related queries from staff and external stakeholders
  • Supporting continuous improvement of finance systems, controls and procedures

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys both transactional finance and contributing to process improvements.

About You

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years' experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role
  • Strong experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations
  • Experience using Xero and strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Well-developed communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and financial integrity

Experience within a not-for-profit, community services or grant-funded environment will be highly regarded, as will exposure to audit processes.
