About the Event Manager role

As the Event Manager for the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, coordination and execution of the 2026 Mount Gambier and Districts Business Awards to be held on Friday 6 November 2026. This is a contract position located in Mount Gambier, SA 5290, offering a unique opportunity to lead the Chamber's efforts in engaging the local business community through this iconic event.

What you'll be doing

  1. Developing and implementing comprehensive event plans to ensure seamless execution of the business awards event
  2. Coordinating all logistical aspects of the event, including venue selection, catering, AV requirements, and event staff management
  3. Liaising with key stakeholders, such as sponsors, speakers, and attendees, to deliver exceptional event experiences
  4. Overseeing the promotion and marketing of events to maximise attendance and engagement
  5. Monitoring and evaluating event performance, providing insights and recommendations for future improvements
  6. Collaborating with the Chamber's team to align events with the organisation's overall strategic objectives

What we're looking for

  1. Proven experience in event management, preferably within the not-for-profit or business community sector
  2. Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  3. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a customer-focused approach
  4. Proficiency in using event management software and tools to streamline the planning and execution process
  5. Creativity and innovative thinking to continuously enhance the event experience
  6. Familiarity with the local Mount Gambier business community and an understanding of their needs and interests
