About the role

We have an opportunity for a Chief Engineer to be part of our Aviation Command team. The Chief Engineer is responsible for managing the Aviation Command Engineering department within a highly regulated legislative and budgetary framework in order to ensure ongoing safe operations.

In addition to the above mentioned salary, the position occupant may be eligible to be paid a $20,000 Skills Shortage Allowance in accordance with “C2025-09 Skills Shortage Allowance Implementation Guidelines” for a 2-year period (subject to satisfying the relevant eligibility criteria). Please note any extension of this allowance beyond the 2-year period will be subject to further review and delegate approval.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma in Aeroskills (Mechanical or Avionics) or equivalent industry experience
  • Holder of B1.3 turbine helicopter CASA part 66 licence related to Aviation Command aircraft or
  • Holder of B2 (Avionics) CASA part 66 Licence related to Aviation Command aircraft or
  • Holder of B1.1 turbine fixed wing CASA part 66 licence related to Aviation Command aircraft.

The Chief Engineer is not only responsible for maintenance and production planning of the fleet but is also responsible to guide and provide leadership to the reporting Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. Provide an example of how you have implemented a fleet management Plan to ensure continual aircraft availability that meets ongoing operational needs.
