This is for a Permanent Full-Time appointment at 76 hours per fortnight.

An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Staff Development Nurse to join the Population Health team at Hedland Health Campus in the Pilbara.

To be successful, you will have...

  • Clinical knowledge and experience in the delivery of evidenced based nursing care in the primary health setting, and ability to act as a clinical resource in the development of other staff.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal health.
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles in relation to the facilitation of learning, teaching and training groups or individuals.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with an ability to liaise effectively with clients, individuals and other team members.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to utilise information systems.
  • Immunisation certification and demonstrated experience/knowledge in providing immunisation services.

Position Profile

In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Managers and members of the Pilbara Population Health Unit management team, the Staff Development Nurse plans, implements and evaluates education and training relevant to the clinical practice of the designated clinical area. This position provides appropriate clinical support and delivers training and education for community health nurses and other staff as appropriate. This position is responsible for orientation and clinical education to promote the development of culturally appropriate clinical competencies, of all nursing staff; and in particular newly qualified and junior nurses. Provides support and clinical facilitation for undergraduate and postgraduate nurses in line with education institution agreements.
