Primary objective

The Director Digital Projects leads a specialised project and analysis team to deliver high-quality, cost-effective digital business

solutions for client agencies, with accountability for end-to-end project delivery and effective transition to business-as-usual

support.

Context statement

This position sits within Agency Business Systems – Human and Shared Services and reports to the Senior Director Agency

Business Systems. The Director Digital Projects provides strategic leadership for digital project delivery, working closely with client

agencies, vendors and internal teams to deliver solutions and ensure seamless transition to operational support.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high-level strategic advice on client agencies’ business system requirements and on current and emerging digital

capabilities to support their priorities and align with whole-of-government digital strategies.

2. Identify and promote innovative uses of technology to improve business operations, service delivery and organisational

efficiency across client agencies.

3. Lead and oversee the end-to-end delivery of digital initiatives and projects, ensuring solutions are delivered on time and within

budget, aligned to business needs and whole-of-government digital frameworks.

4. Represent the client agencies’ interests on inter-agency committees and working groups dealing with business systems and

digital initiatives.

5. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external service providers and monitor their performance to ensure

project outcomes and solutions are delivered in line with contractual, policy and governance requirements.

6. Foster a client-focused service delivery culture through effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration, ensuring business

requirements are well understood, solutions are fit for purpose, and completed projects are transitioned smoothly to business-

as-usual support in line with relevant policies, guidelines and standards.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and work independently to deliver business outcomes.

2. Proven track record in leading strategic digital initiatives and successfully delivering complex digital projects across diverse

environments.

3. High-level collaborative and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior

management, external service providers and digital specialists.

4. Proven organisational and management skills to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

5. Energy and drive with a strong client focus coupled with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships and

implement change.

6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of Commitment to service, Innovation, Ethical practice,

Accountability, Impartiality, Diversity and Respect.

Desirable

1. Relevant tertiary or other qualifications in ICT, project management, business management or related technical field.
