About the role:
- Support and advocate for patients, families, carers and support persons by ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities under the Mental Health Act.
- Assist patients to communicate their views, wishes and treatment preferences with health practitioners and support networks.
- Work collaboratively with mental health professionals, community visitors, guardians and legal representatives to protect and promote patient interests.
- Provide guidance and support for Mental Health Review Tribunal hearings, including explaining patient rights and assisting with representation if requested.
- Deliver services across Central Queensland and Central West regions while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, confidentiality and legislative compliance.
About you:
- Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
- Bring your knowledge of the application and requirements of the Mental Health Act 2016 or ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
- You will bring high level oral and written communication skills and ability to support people from vulnerable population groups, such as persons with a mental illness.
- You will have the ability to consult with a broad range of mental health stakeholders, including mental health consumers, support persons, authorised doctors and administrators of authorised mental health services.
Total monthly remuneration value of up to $14,297 p.m. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $70.66 - $75.83 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
