Primary objective
To provide safe and professional transport services for VIPs and dignitaries ensuring all movements are conducted efficiently,
securely and in accordance with established protocols, while maintaining the highest standards of customer service,
confidentiality and presentation.
Context statement
The Protocol NT unit is responsible for the coordination and delivery of official protocol and transport services for the
Northern Territory Government. Operating in a dynamic and high-profile environment, this position provides professional
chauffeur services to the Chief Minister, Ministers, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Leader of the Opposition,
and dignitaries as required.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Carry out professional chauffeur services in a safe, courteous, and efficient manner for key stakeholders as directed by
the VIP Fleet manager.
2. Ensure the allocated vehicle is checked daily for roadworthiness, cleanliness and arrange maintenance and servicing as
required.
3. Maintain accurate vehicle logs, trip records, and incident reports.
4. Undertake administrative and miscellaneous tasks as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Hold a current unrestricted driver’s licence.
2. Hold a qualification in defensive driving or have similar experience.
3. Proven ability to communicate effectively, maintain a high level of confidentiality displaying tact and diplomacy with
stakeholders at all levels and from diverse cultures.
4. Demonstrated punctuality with flexibility to work outside regular office hours to fulfil driving assignments and
requirements of the VIP Fleet.
5. Comprehensive knowledge of Darwin, Palmerston, and regional areas of the NT.
6. Demonstrate ability to safely lift, carry and manoeuvre stakeholders’ luggage and other items as required in the course
of duties.
7. Ability to always maintain a high level of personal presentation.
Desirable
1. Experience in the chauffeur/private hire car industry.
2. Current first aid certificate.
