We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Governance Officer (Compliance) to join a respected local government organisation.

Working closely with senior leaders, managers and elected members, you will play a key role in supporting governance, compliance and legislative obligations across the organisation.

This is a diverse position that will see you managing governance registers, coordinating Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, supporting policy and delegation reviews, maintaining compliance records and providing high-level administrative support to the Governance team. You will also assist with council meeting functions, agenda and minute preparation, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of governance processes and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer governance and compliance activities across the organisation
  • Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and governance registers
  • Support the review and maintenance of policies, delegations and authorisations
  • Coordinate councillor requests and elected member training requirements
  • Assist with council agenda and minute preparation when required
  • Maintain governance documentation, records and SharePoint sites
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Governance team
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure legislative and governance requirements are met

About You

  • Previous experience within governance, compliance, policy, legal administration or local government
  • Exceptional written communication and report-writing skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity
  • Experience interpreting policies, procedures or legislation will be highly regarded
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
